Nowon Moonlight Walk 2026 in Seoul — Schedule, Moonlight Tour & Parking for the Light-Sculpture Night Walk Along Danghyeoncheon
On autumn nights,
the Danghyeoncheon (당현천) stream
turns into a gallery of light sculptures 🌙
Nowon Moonlight Walk 2026: A New Moon
(노원달빛산책 — “dalbit sanchaek” means moonlight walk)
runs for 24 days,
Fri Oct 16 – Sun Nov 8.
The lights come on
every day from 5:30 pm
until 10 pm,
and admission is free!
We put this together from
Nowon-gu’s press release (October 6)
and the website of the organizer,
the Nowon Cultural Foundation.

🎪 What kind of festival is it?
It’s a public-art light sculpture festival
that turns the walking path
along Danghyeoncheon into a gallery.
This is its 7th year.
This year’s theme is ‘A New Moon’.
24 artist teams from Korea
are showing about 30 works.
The works are grouped
under three messages:
a prayer for all living things,
a wish for peace and coexistence,
a wish for a better world.
According to Nowon-gu,
about 1.32 million people
came last year.
You’re welcome to photograph the works
and post them on social media.
There’s an audio docent (guide)
on Podbbang (팟빵), a Korean podcast app,
linked from the festival website.
✨ What’s on, and when?
We gathered the programs of all 24 days
into a table by date and time.

🌙 What artworks are there?
Pulse of the Earth (Gadget Gongbang)
A pavilion 11 m across and 6.5 m high
holding 100 ‘Everyone’s Chairs’
and 1,000 balance blocks.
Most days it’s an open rest area;
on the three playground days
it becomes a pop-up playground.
Moonlight Gate (Da Vinci Bridge)
A tunnel artwork at Yangji Bridge (양지교),
the entrance to the festival section.
Artist Kim Chang-kyum (김창겸)
A work that reimagines dancheong —
the painted patterns on traditional Korean buildings —
as digital video.
Artist Eom Hyeok-yong (엄혁용)
A huge stainless-steel book sculpture,
up to 4.6 m tall and 9 m around.
🚇 How to get there & parking

We gathered the suggested routes
into a table by way of getting there.
| Getting there | Stop · exit · walk |
|---|---|
| Subway | From Junggye Station (Line 7), take Exit 1 or 6 and go straight to Danghyeon Bridge 1 (당현1교); a downhill path leads into the exhibition section (about 499 m from Exit 1, per Seoul’s Fun Seoul site) |
| Stroller / wheelchair | Take the elevator from floor 2 of the platform area up to Exit 5 |
| Bus | Listed stops: Junggye Station Exit 1, Sanggye-dong Gas Station, Sanggye-dong 119 Safety Center, Children’s Traffic Park, Kolon Apt. / Yangji Daelim Apt. |
There’s no dedicated parking for the festival.
The organizer expects traffic congestion
and asks visitors to walk or use public transport.
👨👩👧 Going with kids
According to the organizer’s FAQ,
strollers and wheelchairs can get in.
But for safety reasons,
you can’t ride bikes or kick scooters
in the exhibition section.
The artworks stay on display even when it rains.
If the weather turns bad,
the schedule and programs may change.
Lost something?
Ask at the festival control room
or the operations office.

is on Oct 20, 22 and 29 only —
just three weekdays!
Other days it's an open rest area
