Anseong Matchum Observatory with Kids: Evening Stars and a Rocket Drawing
I thought we would miss out,
but cancellation tickets were available on site.
This time, we visited
Anseong Matchum Observatory
inside Anseong Matchum Land.
The program combines a space-related screening
with observing stars through telescopes.
We attended the 7pm session.

Planet and astronaut decorations inside the observatory

🎟️ We used cancellation tickets available that day
☁️ Clouds limited how many stars we could see
🚀 The children also took photos and tried drawing
🎟️ A walk before the 7pm session
When I checked reservations,
the sessions seemed almost full.
I thought we might not get to visit.
But when we arrived,
a few cancellation tickets were available,
and we were able to get in.
Before 7pm, we walked by the water
and had a look around the campsite.
Our time in the park
continued with an evening at the observatory.
Those tickets were available on our particular visit.
They are not a guarantee of walk-in admission;
check reservation availability before you go.
🔭 A dark sky, with clouds in the way
By 7pm, it was already quite dark.
I hoped we would see lots of stars,
but there were some clouds that evening.
We could not see as many stars as I had hoped.
We saw stars forming a triangular pattern
and located Saturn in the sky.
A dark sky did not mean every star was clearly visible.
The clouds are part of what I remember
about this particular observation session.

with bringing a drawing onto a screen:
time looking up,
and a hands-on activity for the children.
🚀 Telescope photos and a drawing activity downstairs
The children were busy
taking photos in front of the telescopes.
Downstairs, there was also a drawing area.
They could scan a rocket they had drawn
and see it fly on the screen.
Alongside observing stars,
there was something to draw and watch on screen.
It added a hands-on element to our visit with the children.
