Seoul Science Center Starlight Festival with Kids — Telescopes and Star Talks, and We Went Two Days in a Row (Nowon, November 2025)
A place to go with kids in Nowon 🌙
On the last weekend
of November last year,
we went to the Starlight Festival
at Seoul Science Center
in Hagye-dong, Nowon.
We went on Saturday,
then went back again on Sunday!

A huge moon model set up outside the building — it stands out even more at night
on November 29–30, 2025.
The event is already over.
The 2026 Starlight Festival dates
aren't on the official website yet.

🔭 Telescopes and star talks
It was an event
just right for families.
From hands-on telescope sessions
to constellation talks,
the lineup was packed.

Best of all, there were lots of
programs the kids take part in themselves,
so they stayed really focused.
It wasn’t just looking —
there was plenty of hands-on time.

Our child writing something by hand — many of the programs were hands-on

An observation scope in the exhibition's hands-on corner — the screen behind reads ‘자연과 도시가 어우러진 생태습지’ (an eco-wetland where nature and city meet)
🙋 Smooth running, friendly staff
Things ran fairly smoothly on site,
so waiting wasn’t much of a stress.
The staff guiding us were friendly, too.
Learning and hands-on fun
were nicely balanced —
a satisfying family day out.
☁️ The downside — weather
The night-sky viewing
was a little affected by the weather.
You’re looking at the real sky,
so it depends on that day’s weather.
The event notice also said
the stargazing program is canceled
in the rain and replaced
with a different program.
depends on the weather
If stargazing is the goal,
check the forecast first!
🔁 We went back the next day
After the first day,
we went back once more
the next day.
All we wrote on day two
was one line: “Want to come again — the best!”
Going two days in a row
says it all, we think.
🌟 The 2025 Starlight Festival at a glance

There was telescope assembly, stargazing,
a relay of astronomy and space lectures,
a lunar lander workshop and more.

under ‘과학행사’ (Science Events) —
check there for news of the next one.
🚗 Parking & getting there

it’s a 1.2 km walk,

🏛 Worth a visit without the festival, too
Admission is free.
(Some hands-on and education programs are paid.)

(closed Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday).
Inside the museum

👍 Who this is for
![]()
✔ Parents who want to try telescopes
and constellations with their kids
✔ Kids who’d rather do things
with their hands than just look
✔ Anyone looking for
a family outing in Nowon
Telescopes and constellations,
plus programs the kids do themselves.
Only the night-sky viewing depends on the weather;
the rest was a family outing
good enough to go two days in a row.
